The title says it all. This is one of the foolproof ways of earning money online. If you have any experience of teaching, I say use it right now. If you don't have any teaching experience than you should definitely give it a go once. I won’t say it is a piece of cake but it isn’t rocket science either.
If you have any marketable skills that you are confident you can teach then you can become an instructor on Udemy. Udemy is an online forum where you can take courses on practically anything. On the other hand you can also teach anything you know how to do.
If you want to know what I am talking about, before you read on I suggest you go and search what Udemy is. Once you have done that come back and let me give you some idea as to what you need to do to become an instructor on udemy.
How to become an instructor?
Simple. Just log in as an instructor.
How to go forward?
My first and most important suggestion is look up a course you find interesting and take one course. This will
a) give you an idea as to how a course is structured on this forum and
b) open your brains about how to move along your own course.
Once you get an idea as to how a course moves forward you will be able to grasp what you might like to incorporate in your own online teaching style.
How to decide what to teach?
To be honest among all the queries I faced this is one of the most difficult one. If you have teaching experience than you probably won’t have much of an issue. You already know what course you can teach, how to structure the course plan and how to go about teaching it. BUT… And let's face it, this is a very big but. But if you have never taught a course all on your own how do you know what you can teach and how to structure it?
You probably don’t know where to start and where to go. Your brain might be going haywire with various possibilities you might like to explore and how to go about constructing an outline.
The way to go forward:
- The first thing to do is let your imagination run wild. ‘So what course can I teach?’ ‘Hmm. Cooking? Or Nail art? Or how to make your first computer program?’ Whatever it might be think and write down all possibilities.
- Research whatever topics you have knowledge of. Check out some online courses being taught, see some videos, check some university course outlines if available and write down a list of possible courses you can teach.
- Once you have a range of possibilities written down for all of them try to write down at least ten separate sections you would cover in each of the courses. Once you have the sections you will get a better idea of which course you might want to start with.
- Having decided on one particular topic to teach it is best if you do in-depth and extensive research. Gather as much material as you can. Make it comprehensive and understandable. Make sure your course is such that it provides an extensive knowledge on the subject thereby getting you good ratings and increasing your chances of success.
- Once you have ample research streamline exactly what you are going to teach.
- Decide the method that will be most effective. So for example you can speak well and know how to make really good videos of yourself, then you can make videos where you teach through video tutorials. If you think whiteboard videos would be more effective than make those. Add extra resources, research notes and whatever material you can supply and you are good to go.
You can’t know if you are good at it or not without trying it first. So my suggestion is give it a go. Even before you make an account and proceed to putting up stuff online make a proper outline and structure the course. With the base all setup you will be able to get a hang of it much faster.
Udemy is not the only resource where you can teach online. There are actually many other online teaching portals and all of them pay you pretty well once you get a hang of it. I am sharing the links of some of the really good ones below. You can go through them and let me know what you think. I am looking forward to all your opinions and comments.
If you have any suggestions or ideas for online work that you would like more information on you are most welcome to get back to me on that and I will do my best to post about them.
Take care.
Bye till then.
